CAN A RADICAL LIBERAL SUPPORT CONSERVATIVE RON PAUL FOR PRESIDENT? ENDORSEMENT: WHY? I noticed and liked the one TV commercial I've seen from him. I also read an article about him in the Jan-Feb 2008 Mother Jones Magazine. This magazine is a bastion of liberal news analysis for free thinkers. They have noticed the internet sensation of WHO is supporting this guy, People from all walks of life and politics. You REALLY need to read this issue; buy it or check your library. (This issue also has an extremely interesting analysis of China and the ultimate cost of them taking over the world with "cheap" products.) I notice that both articles are also currently (12/07) free on their website above. I don't agree with Republican Texas Congressman Dr Ron Paul on everything, but I agree more than I disagree. I would never support any of the other Republicans though, because they are part of the problem. My pet peeve with the Democrats is that they seem to be above it all, and don't need to answer the concerns or opinions of the Republicans, or just don't know how to get their message across. And I've been unable to get listened to, or at least "heard". For example, Romney has a very well-worded ad that has gone unanswered by all the Democrats, at least from all the campaign ads that I've heard here in Maine, where we hear all the New Hampshire TV ads. He says "We ALL KNOW the Democrats have it wrong on illegal immigration, and we don't want to make THAT mistake. Legal immigration is what made this country great, but illegal is illegal." How can anyone argue with that? I haven't heard anything opposing that makes sense. So, all I can assume is that the Democrats do have it wrong. All of them? Who knows? They don't seem to address the issue. Ron Paul also seems to satisfy why I have so vehemently been a
Democrat. Big Spending Republicans! George Bush Sr: All-time record national deficits. He couldn't pay his bills for everything he wanted to spend money on. Bill Clinton: Took a few years to pay off Bush's spending, but finally brought the national budget down to not only paying its own way, but starting to pay down the national debt. Result: a strong US dollar. It only took 60c to buy $1 worth of products in Canada. Little Bush: It didn't even take him to the war to wreck the budget. Fine, we did need to go after the ringleader of who attacked us, in Afghanistan. But 9/11 wouldn't have happened at all if the Moslems weren't so pissed off at what we are doing over in their countries. Listen to Ron Paul!!! Read background analyses of the Middle East in Mother Jones and The Nation magazines. Where did most of the attackers come from? Saudi Arabia. Did Bush want to attack them? Heck no, they are his daddy's business partners. But one Moslem country is the same as another. Let's attack Iraq. Nobody likes them anyway because they survived my daddy's war. Then we can nationalize their oil and distribute it "fairly" to countries that need it (the US oil companies). Heck, we even supplied weapons to Iraq and Saddam Hussein back when it suited our political purposes. Same in Afghanistan. It's all a matter of business, and it's about time that business interests stopped controlling the military policies of the United States. Little Bush has been the biggest spending president in history. He has created the largest annual deficits and largest national debt, because he not only refused to raise taxes to pay his way (and risk losing support for the war), but he lowered taxes for his corporate and rich millionaire buddies. Well, he spent it, somebody's got to pay for it sometime. I think the administration figures, hey the Democrats can fix it and get blamed for raising taxes to pay our bills. I suppose that is good strategy, if the American people are really that dumb. Bush has shown that many are. George Bush has also made/allowed a wholesale sellout of our economy to China. Go back to the index and/or Mother Jones and read the China article too, if you have any sense of patriotism and an interest in the survival of the USA. And what have we received from all of Bush's spending of money
he doesn't have? A WEAK US dollar. Even the Canadian dollar is now worth more
than the US dollar, as well as other nations' currencies. THAT is why our
paychecks seem to buy less these days. Thanks for listening. Roland Rhoades email, Gorham Maine. RON PAUL SUPPORTER FOR BARACK OBAMA OK, the primary is over and so is Ron Paul. So, after listening to what the candidates are actually saying about what THEY will do, I whole-heartedly support Barack Obama, who is running an intelligent informed campaign on the issues AND solutions instead of LYING saying Obama will raise taxes when everyone knows people making under $250,000/year will pay less taxes under Obama. The facts don't count with McCain; if you repeat the same lies enough like Bush did, people will believe it. If you didn't watch his 30-minute ad or LISTEN to his and the two Clinton speeches at the convention, YOU are NOT informed. I'm sure you can find them on the internet. Obama's judgment is also proven to be superior to McCain. Even Republican officials are calling Palin (the very possible successor to the Presidency if something happened to him) a "whack job" and other names. We've already had 8 years of down-home folksy stupid people in charge, and look where we are now, compared to when Clinton left office. Back to POLITICAL INDEX PAGE OF ROLANDRHOADES.COM |
